G27 Berlin Campus & Dormitory

Developing a Dynamic Academic Campus in Berlin

As part of Council on International Educational Exchange’s (CIEE) strategic plan to expand into key locations globally, we initiated a targeted search for a new location for an academic campus and student dormitories in Berlin, Germany. After considering different options, we identified a historic light manufacturing facility in the center of the thriving Kreuzberg neighborhood.

We led the acquisition, financing, entitlement and development activities to create an innovative blend of living, learning, dining, and socializing.

Our team renovated the complex to have teaching facilities, common areas, administrative offices and over 200 beds. A spacious communal ground floor allows residents to relax, with multiple seating areas, a large fireplace, bar and cafe, custom and repurposed furniture, and eclectic lighting. Each floor also features social hubs like community kitchens and intimate study lounges surrounded by local contemporary art.
