Exalt Youth Headquarters
New York, NY

DBI Projects led the real estate search for and delivery of new headquarters for NYC-based non-profit exalt. Focused for over a decade on creating opportunities for youths who’ve been involved in the criminal justice system, the organization is now poised to extend its reach across the city, beginning with its relocation to the new headquarters at 17 Battery Place. Designed by architect Nicko Elliott of CIVILIVN, the 5,000 square foot space has been transformed into a dual-use office and classroom hub for the organization, giving staff and program participants a modern, welcoming and inspiring environment in which to learn and work. Over-looking Battery Park, the headquarters encompass classrooms, communal desks, a library-lounge, meeting rooms and office space.

Through exalt, teens and young adults are re-engaged with a love of learning and empowered to build fruitful lives outside of the criminal justice system. Over the years exalt has achieved undeniable results, with nearly all graduates of the program returning to finish high school and a remarkable 95 percent avoiding further convictions — the average state recidivism rate is 60 percent. The updated headquarters at 17 Battery Place will give exalt an expanded platform from which to triple the number of youths served in the next three years. DBI has a rewarding history of working with community-based organizations like exalt, proudly helping them to accomplish their missions by bringing to life the spaces they’ve imagined within the required timelines and budget.
